Passing Through

it is getting dark earlier again.
the weather is fussy and we frump at work
to keep warm (it’s not halloween already, is it?)

our toes are getting musty at the bus stop
...(i didn’t eat any fruit today)...
and we all stand a spoke-poke away from each other.

until the 31 swings about off pratt st.
we all time it well, taking down the umbrellas:
optimise the motion to get in the queue...

we all get a bit wetter than needs be: nevermind.
shuffling with the same sleepy steamy shrugs
towards the door, touchmeincard inhand

jostle forward some, a little, not so much, almost.
i watch some rainbow river down in the gutter:
i thought i was going to give up leather
...
and i thought i was going to start cycling.
